How it's calculated
Etsy fees are the listing fee (per unit sold), the 6.5% transaction fee on item price plus shipping, payment processing of 3% + 25¢ on the full order including sales tax, and the Offsite Ads fee when the sale came from one (15% or 12%, capped at $100).
Profit is what the buyer pays for items and shipping, minus Etsy fees, your product costs, shipping and packaging, and any Etsy Ads spend. Margin is profit divided by that order total.
Break-even and target prices find the lowest item price where profit reaches zero or your chosen margin, recalculating every fee at each price.
Fees from etsy.com/legal/fees and etsy.com/legal/etsy-payments (US), last reviewed 2026-10-16. Non-US shops pay different processing rates and may pay a regulatory operating fee or VAT on fees.
Questions sellers ask
How much does Etsy take from a sale?
For a US seller, Etsy charges a 20¢ listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping, and a payment processing fee of 3% + 25¢ on the order total including tax. Together that is usually around 10% of the order, plus Offsite Ads fees when a sale comes from one.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the payment processing fee both apply to what you charge for shipping, so offering "free shipping" by building it into the item price costs the same in fees.
What are Etsy Offsite Ads fees?
When a buyer clicks an Etsy ad on another site and buys within 30 days, Etsy charges 15% of the order total, or 12% once your shop has passed $10,000 in sales over the last 365 days. The fee is capped at $100 per order.
Can I opt out of Offsite Ads?
Shops under $10,000 in sales over the last 365 days can opt out. Once a shop passes that threshold, Offsite Ads are required and the 12% rate applies.
Why does the listing fee multiply with quantity?
Each listing costs 20¢ for four months. On a multi-quantity listing, Etsy charges another 20¢ to renew it every time a unit sells.
